About the Role

Midwest based insurance carrier that writes preferred private passenger automobile coverage, business, liquor liability, general liability, and commercial automobile coverage seeks an Underwriting Management Professional. The Director of Underwriting ensures a profitable book of Property and Casualty insurance business.

Candidates out of the Chicago area can be considered, however, the first 3 months they must be in the office for 3 days per week and then 1 week per month thereafter.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategy to better evaluate risk quality
  • Analyze software and products that can be added to existing system to improve efficiency and profitability
  • Analyze data and develop metrics on the business to efficiently manage department
  • Collaborate with Product Management to evaluate portfolio performance based on profitability metrics, multiline diversification, reinsurance, production metrics, and industry trends
  • Define strategy and oversee execution of continuously improving portfolio
  • Quality Audit and Account Review

Skills & Experience

  • Undergraduate Degree Required
  • Minimum 5-7 years of Underwriting experience
  • In depth knowledge of best practices of risk management
  • Strong understanding of personal and commercial auto; commercial property & casualty products; insurance operations; finance and actuarial concepts; regulatory environment; reinsurance; account management; underwriting; and producer management

Compensation

$150k to $180k + bonus
