About the Role
You hold a critical leadership position as Director of Commercial Insurance Agency Operations at a large independent insurance brokerage in Detroit. This position leads all commercial property and casualty client service and marketing operations with a blend of high-level strategic planning with in-the-weeds support for the service and sales team. Client satisfaction and retention drive everything you hope to accomplish.
Duties & Responsibilities
You ensure the commercial lines department works collaboratively with multiple divisions to promote customer retention and create an environment that enables revenue growth and profitability.
- Senior leadership over the entire account management team with dotted line oversight of supervisors, placement/marketing teams, and related support groups. Fully engage in all recruiting, hiring, training, and onboarding strategies. Coach leaders. Create career advancement/career pathing opportunities. Build a culture of continuous improvement with an emphasis on continuing education.
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives. Communicate updates and results on key initiatives. Partner with the sales team on plans that promote new customer acquisition.
- Manage all insurance company relationships, securing access to competitive and unique programs that give the agency a strategic advantage. Strengthen partnerships critical to meeting the needs of the agency’s middle market and specialty commercial lines portfolios.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum ten (10) years of commercial property and casualty insurance industry tenure with significant time and responsibilities spent on department leadership and management.
- Prior time spent in roles that you will lead is critical, having an extensive knowledge of the inner workings of commercial property and casualty rates, coverage, and markets as well as service standards, deliverables, and the brokerage cycle.
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
