About the Role

The Director of Benefit Services role is an opportunity to show off your sales and relationship-building skills, along with in-depth product knowledge in the world of employee benefits. The ideal candidate is going to be someone who is self-engaged, highly motivated, and a problem-solving leader who can step right in on day one to have an impact on the overall culture and operation. In this role, you will be accountable for creation, implementation, cost-effectiveness, quality assurance, and ongoing management responsibilities for the entire benefits department. To ultimately be successful, you must possess skills and experience in managing multiple teams from transaction-oriented teams to high tenured specialty teams in onsite and virtual working environments. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify, define, and design business improvement initiatives and act as change agent to ensure constant improvements are being made
  • Ensure procedures, standards, quality measures, and documentation are defined, communicated, adhered to, and managed appropriately
  • Prepare individual department and corporate goals, monitor progress against plan, and provide periodic reports to management on performance
  • Manage direct reports to ensure high performance and exceptional quality
  • Oversee the hiring, training, motivating, and overall management of support staff
  • Develop leadership skills in management staff and build an effective team to support departmental goals
  • Develop and monitor budget for the department
  • Ensure continual improvement of business for efficiency and quality, which should be supported by detailed reports and analysis
  • Complete all compliance reviews by evaluating plan documents for any current or potential compliance issues.

Skills & Experience

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in a leadership or management role
  • In-depth knowledge of overall operation and budgetary planning
  • Comfortable with data, reports, and doing ad hoc analysis of charts
  • Subject matter experience with small to mid-sized group (2-100 employees) benefits plans

Compensation & Benefits

$150-175,000 + bonus + comprehensive employee benefits package
