Insurance job in Knoxville- The Underwriting Specialist- Ancillary Benefits is part of the sales support team at a local Managing General Underwriter (MGU). You will work with voluntary benefits insurance plans (life, short term disability, long term disability, critical illness and accident policies).
- New Business Process: In-take Requests for Proposals (RFPs), create records and work in the database to calculate rates.
- Client Service: Follow up on quotes, spreadsheet product and rate comparisons. Interact mostly with insurance agency account managers getting proposals in the hands of producers to sell.
- Policy Administration: Gather all final information to set up new policies. Move the process along from implementation to enrollment.
Required Experience: At least 1-2 years of ancillary group benefits insurance product work in underwriting support, account management or customer service. Proficiency with worksite/voluntary benefits products (life, disability, critical illness, accident). Strong math and Microsoft Excel skills.
