Scot Dickerson, CPC, President Capstone Search Group Insurance Division, began his career with the insurance industry after graduating with honors from Iowa State University. He began on the property casualty side of the claims profession and was rapidly promoted to Claims Supervisor over the Life, Health and Disability unit. While there, Scot completed numerous industry-related courses. After nine successful years with this carrier, he joined the recruiting profession. He has run a successful nationwide search practice for many years, earning a reputation for his strong work ethic, professionalism and integrity. Scot is a Certified Personnel Consultant. Certification ensures you a knowledgeable and experienced staffing professional that follows the rules clearly defined by federal, state and local governments. This designation also guarantees you a professional committed to the staffing profession.
Chris Winterboer, CPC, RHU, Senior Search Associate, joined the insurance industry after graduating with honors from Northwestern College. He began his career with Principal Financial Group as an Employee Benefits Enrollment Specialist in the pension department. From there, he spent four years at the largest independent agency in the state of Iowa - Holmes, Murphy and Associates - as an Employee Benefits Producer/Consultant. He is a licensed Life/Health agent and continues to pursue his insurance education, a member of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Sales Advantage Program, and is a committee member for and a recent graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute. Chris has been with Capstone since the fall of 2003 and recently received his Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC) designation from the National Association of Personnel Consultants (NAPS). He continues to expand his national presence, especially in the realm of group employee benefits carriers and agencies alike.
Tara Erpelding, Search Associate, graduated in 2000 from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations. Her experience since graduation includes a position as Marketing Coordinator for a Chamber of Commerce and three years with a national staffing firm in Kansas City. Tara’s focus as part of the CSG team is to enhance department communications and connectivity with our clients as well as to continue to develop resources which give CSG Consultants the edge in locating and securing the very best available talent and information for our clients. Mary Newgard, AU, began her career in insurance when she joined the Top 100 brokerage firm Cottingham & Butler. Working for a national trucking company in Des Moines, IA proved valuable in building a successful book of business at C&B. As a search associate with Capstone Search Group, the transportation industry continues to be an important focus of Mary’s work. Additionally, she partners with brokerage and carrier clients, in a variety of P&C and benefits disciplines, located in the Midwest, Southeast and Western U.S. She recruits sales, underwriting and management professionals skilled in new business and program development. Mary graduated from Loras College with a B.A. in Public Relations. In her spare time, Mary enjoys spending time with her family, golfing and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Allison Wood, Research Associate, graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelors degree in Communications. Prior to joining Capstone Search Group, Allison was with the Des Moines Register as an Account Representative for several years. Her role with CSG is to improve communications with new and existing clients and use the internet and other resources to continually enhance our ability to serve our clients. Allison brings a fresh and positive approach to her work along with outstanding work and business ethics!
Scott Thompson, Search Associate, graduated from Grandview College with a BA in Business Administration. Scott began his career in the restaurant and real estate industry before transitioning into recruiting with the largest privately owned staffing firm in the nation. Scott’s role at Capstone Search Group includes sourcing candidates and helping you find that perfect fit for the next step in your career. In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time with his family and pets, gardening, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Kris began his professional career as a Multi-Line Agent with Nationwide Insurance at the NSSI location in Des Moines. After learning the business he went to work as an Agent with Farm Bureau Insurance and Financial Services before coming to join CSG. An attendee of Central College, Kris is now completing his degree in Business Administration with the University of Phoenix. Kris’s role at CSG is to identify and locate the top production talent in the country. Kris spends his free time with his family, pets, fishing and cheering on the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Lakers!

Erica
R. Upmeyer, PHR, Search Associate, graduated from Emporia State
University with a BS in Sociology. Erica began her career in the Social
Services field as an Employment Specialist before moving abroad for two
years. During this time, Erica had the opportunity to earn her MS in
Industrial/Organizational Psychology and gain valuable international
work experience while completing an internship with one of the largest
transportation companies in the world. Upon returning to the States,
Erica transitioned into the staffing industry with the nation’s largest
privately held staffing agency as an Account Executive and was quickly
promoted into a Branch Manager role. Erica’s most recent role was with
Nationwide Insurance as an HR Field Manager where her primary
responsibilities were supporting a start-up region overseeing all HR
deliverables, with a large emphasis on recruiting insurance
professionals. Her role with the CSG team includes working with
candidates assisting them on their career searches as well as partnering
with other team members at CSG on key searches, strategically
positioning CSG within the insurance community, and sourcing best fit
professionals for our client company staffing needs. In her spare time,
Erica enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, shopping,
working out, reading and watching college basketball – Go Jayhawks!
