Insurance Job Description

Our client has been in the casualty underwriting business for over 30 years.  They offer a broad range of professional services products.  This position will work closely with wholesale brokers and Managing General Agencies writing business along the west coast.  Therefore, its important you currently work in southern California or maintain regular marketing contact with brokers in the region. 

Underwriter Qualifications

  • Five or more years of underwriting experience with a strong background in professional liability; specific coverage expertise can include medical malpractice, technology, E&O, and Architects & Engineers

  • E&S underwriting experience

  • Fundamental understanding of underwriting principals including financial analysis and loss review

  • Ability to handle a large book of new and renewal business as well as balance customer service issues and endorsement requests

  • Experience with production underwriting like securing new marketing relationships, visiting existing brokers, and maintaining follow up on the performance of the accounts

  • Focus on timely turnaround of quotes and providing support in a team environment

  • College degree preferred with work towards or completion of an industry designation
