Our client has had a long history of successful insurance operations since they commenced business over 150 years ago. Their assets have consistently ranked them among the world's largest life insurance companies.  They have an A++ (Superior) rating from A.M. Best for financial strength and operating performance. They currently offer an opportunity to join their distribution & marketing team as a Market Research Manager/Business Intelligence. In this very important position you will provide Distribution and Marketing with key metrics to enable the sales and marketing process to be data-driven so as to maximize the value  to our client's BGA’s.       

Market Research Manager/Business Intelligence Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and analyze industry intelligence from LIMRA, MIB, SNL and other sources so as to identify market size by product and channel, growth trends, geographic market share.

  • Establish a complete “competition center” garnering information on key competitor rates, sales results, strategies, underwriting and administrative posture, financial health and more.

  • Synthesize this data and make recommendations around product and program priorities.

  • Establish a customer intelligence center developing a “picture” of each BGA and marketing group.

  • Include distribution of sales by company and product, broker profile, administrative platform employed, growth plans and strategies.

  • Use this data to help D&M establish most productive sales and marketing strategies.

  • Create and maintain a distribution effectiveness financial model, incorporating allowable vs. expenses for D&M, cascading through allocations to each agency and marketing group. 

Market Research Manager/Business Intelligence Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a technical discipline.

  • 5 years industry experience, preferably in a finance or actuarial role.

  • SOA exam progress.

  • Experience with profitability studies in life insurance required.

  • Exposure to and knowledge of the BGA channel.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Interpersonal skills to establish relationships with sources of intelligence within the company, the industry and within the BGAs’ businesses.

  • Strong computer skills, with knowledge of databases, spreadsheets.
