Senior Disability Income Claims Specialist Insurance Job

My client is a growing enterprise of companies with superior financial strength. They market a variety of insurance and financial products in 47 states. They currently offer an opportunity for an experienced Disability Income claims professional to join their team in Cincinnati, OH.  

Senior Disability Income Claims Specialist Responsibilities

• Responsible for administration and adjudication of caseload of complex Disability Income claims, including contestable, residual disability, business overhead expense, buy-sell, suspected fraudulent, disputed or litigated claims. 

• Evaluates, investigates and appropriately resolves all levels and complexities of Disability Income claims. 

• Ensures compliance with all good faith claims handling practices including state service guidelines. 

• Assists with the development and training of others in the department on claim handling and investigative techniques.     

Senior Disability Income Claims Specialist Requirements

• 5 Years minimum experience evaluating Disability Income claims demonstrating superior knowledge of these particular type of claims; processes and policies

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of medical, legal and financial terminology and documents   

• Ability to analyze and logically interpret multiple sets of facts and information and relate to policy language allowing for fair and sound claim determinations

• Strong decision making skills and judgment, high moral and ethical standards

• Ability to think creatively and problem solve in conducting claim investigations 

• Outstanding written and oral communication skills as well as interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with conflict and adversity essential

• Excellent organizational skills; self-motivated and operating with a sense of urgency and possessing strong work ethic

• Prior supervisory/team lead experience

• Participation in and commitment to industry education; ICA; LOMA, HIAA accreditation preferred
