Insurance Job Description

Our client is a highly respected general insurance and reinsurance group. Their focus on diversification, superior product offerings and unparalleled customer service to excel in the market has earned them an "A" rating (Excellent) by A.M. Best. They currently offer a leadership opportunity within their personal lines pricing & product area. This position will manage the Personal Lines team with responsibilities of 1/3 of the P/L portfolio (Mid-West/Central Region).

Vice President of Personal Lines Pricing & Product Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to staff on rate/form development strategies including Actuarial, competitive, and system impacts.

  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to staff in the evaluation and documentation of product changes and impacts on rating systems.

  • Oversee rate structure and contract language development to achieve desired mix of business.

  • Contribute to the development of the annual business plan and its context to drive product enhancements and delivery on a countrywide basis.

  • Lead the assessment of the Company’s competitive position and make recommendations on appropriate course of action including new product development and existing product enhancement.

  • Develop and maintain processes to ensure rate, rule, and form changes are developed and maintained in compliance with legal standards and approved practices.

  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Vice President of Personal Lines Pricing & Product Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance or related field . MBA or continuing education related to job.

  • 7-10 years in Product Management with demonstrated successful & effective people management including staff development and performance management.

  • Experience in the lines of business and geographies to be managed (blend of auto, home and ancillary preferred but not required).

  • Experience managing products in multiple geographies.

  • Experience managing insurance products that employ multivariate pricing techniques.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of insurance principals and procedures, rating methodologies, state insurance regulation, and filing requirements.

  • Strong knowledge in insurance automation systems.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills including interpersonal and presentation.

  • Ability to analyze data and use in decision making.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel and/or Access.
