Federal Relations Director Insurance Job

Our client is well known for assisting people in many facets of their lives, including travel and lodging; auto buying, leasing, renting, and repair; financial services such as loans and credit cards; and insurance needs. They currently offer an opportunity to join their organization in a key position, Federal Relations Director. In this role you will lead the Association's advocacy programs and public policy activities before Congress and federal agencies.  

Federal Relations Director Responsibilities:

• Lobbying Congress and federal agencies on Association policies and priorities

• Identifying and analyzing federal legislation and regulations that could affect organization as a whole, members and client business operations, and developing strategies to respond

• Drafting committee testimony and/or regulatory comments

• Facilitating Association interaction at the federal level

• Developing consensus on Association policies and positions

• Serving as Association's representative at high-level government and industry trade association meetings.  

Federal Relations Director Requirements:

• Ideal candidate will have a Master's degree and four to six years experience on Capitol Hill or in a federal regulatory agency (or Bachelor's degree and eight to ten years experience on Capitol Hill or in a federal regulatory agency).

• Must be a team player and have excellent communication, diplomatic, leadership and management skills and have experience in the public policy arena.

• Basic computer skills are essential.

• Knowledge of transportation and energy issues highly desirable.
