Our client is a growing regional agency group offering insurance and risk management expertise to a broad base of personal, small and middle market clients.  They provide a full spectrum of insurance related products, consulting services, and enhanced carrier relationships. They are one of the top 50 largest privately held insurance agencies in the nation. They offer a unique opportunity for a very seasoned risk management professional. It is a unique chance for a senior level risk management person to design and implement a risk management process for a rapidly growing organization. The role of this Corporate Risk Manager is to protect the organization, its customers, reputation, assets and the interests of shareholders from financial loss due to exposures to risk by identifying and managing all threats to the achievement of its business objectives.

Corporate Risk Manager responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and manage an overall risk management and compliance process for the organization in a manner that fulfills the mission and strategic goals of the organization and in adherence to state & federal laws.

  • Manage the process of identifying and assessing the risks affecting the business.

  • Educate and train the leadership, staff and business associates as to the risk management program, and their respective responsibilities in carrying out the risk management program.

  • Oversee, and in some areas implement, the plan of risk control actions, such as: Purchase of insurance and other risk financing options, Health and safety measures, Liaison with regulators, Business continuity plans, Corporate and department level standards and procedures.

  • Monitor, evaluate and challenge the organization’s success in managing its risks.

  • Collect and analyze data with appropriate risk reporting, internally and externally.

  • Manage claims and litigation and act as a liaison to insurance carriers and legal counsel.

Corporate Risk Manager qualifications:

  • Minimum education requirement of a 4 year Bachelor's Degree, accompanied by advanced training and certifications such as CPCU, ARM, CRC, CIC

  • Must be a licensed producer in the State of Michigan or agree to obtain within 6 months as a condition of employment

  • 20 years combined insurance and risk management or similar experience from an agency or broker.

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations and agencies; prior experience in managing operations and staff.
