Insurance Job Description

Our client is a member of one of the world's leading insurance and financial services organizations. They offer a diverse portfolio of products principally in life insurance, pensions and related savings and investment products, as well as accident, health and general insurance. They presently offer an opportunity to join their organization in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in their underwriting department.  They are seeking a career minded underwriter interested in advancement opportunities in the long term care marketplace. Although a LTC underwriting background is a plus, we are interested in underwriters with a Life or Disability Income background as well. 

Underwriter Responsibilities:

  • Understand the policy and concepts such as ADL's, IADL's, rate structure, couples benefits/discount, etc. on new generation products as developed

  • Review and interpret Telephone Interview/Cognitive Telephone Assessment results

  • Determine need for medical records, special examinations or reports, or additional information in evaluating risk

  • Read, analyze and interpret medical case histories, laboratory data, examination scores and observations and properly document findings

  • Assess risk for LTC using lifestyle, medical and cognitive information while adhering to production requirements   

Underwriter Requirements:

  • Three to five years of Long Term Care, Individual Life-impaired risk and/or Disability Income underwriting experience

  • LOMA/AHIP courses preferred 

  • Proficient understanding of medical terminology, human anatomy, medical tests and procedures, health conditions, LTC policy provisions and LTC underwriting guidelines

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to analyze and interpret medical reports
