Insurance Job Description

Our client is national, specialty P&C carrier rated A+ by A.M. Best.  They bridge the gap between standard market and surplus lines offerings for moderate to high hazard risks.  They write a diverse number of commercial auto risks including for-hire transportation, dump trucks, sand & gravel haulers, limousines, taxis, and charter buses.  While monoline commercial auto is their focus, their underwriters round out programs by packaging cargo, general liability, property, and workers compensation coverage.  They seek qualified production underwriters with a strong focus in commercial auto to join their team.  Your role will be to build a new territory by aligning with key agencies that will result in high retention and new business profitability. 

Commercial Auto Underwriting Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of underwriting experience as a multi-line, P&C underwriter or as a monoline commercial auto expert

  • Must be knowledgeable on ISO rates and forms, MCS-90 and federal filing regulations, Safer and DOT driver compliance

  • Previous experience with commercial auto liability, physical damage, motor truck cargo, and general liability is important

  • Ability to underwrite hard to place risks, similar to E&S products, and still understand the competitive nature of the standard market

  • Marketing responsibilities include visiting regional agencies to provide underwriting guidelines and to monitor submission and hit ratios
