Insurance Job Description

This unique business development opportunity is for a successful commercial insurance professional with a strong sales and marketing background.  The role has been formed to establish a regional property and casualty insurance division.  Through your leadership, you'll use existing internal resources to develop a sales strategy, marketing relationships, cross selling and external referral streams, and a client service platform to the size and standard of the company's existing best practices.  Not a traditional production role, this opportunity has all the necessary components of prospective client development, marketing analysis, and high level consultation that come with a brokerage role without the solicitation of new business or the management of an individual book of business.  However, it does require someone knowledgeable in the property and casualty brokerage sales cycle to envision short and long term goals as well as effectively promote the new practice.  

As VP, Business Development Leader

  • You're responsible for creating strategic business development initiatives and overseeing a sales team designed to consult on property and casualty programs for mid-market organizations in the Midwest

  • You'll develop marketing outreach initiatives with the goal of increasing new business opportunities

  • You'll reorganize internal resources to emphasize a collaborative approach to sales amongst existing staff

  • You'll work in close conjunction with the senior executive team on budgets, new business goals, allocation of resources, and integration with other regional insurance and financial services practices 

VP, Commercial Business Development Leader Qualifications

  • To be considered you must offer significant Midwest commercial insurance ties including understanding of the competitive regional brokerage market and established underwriting marketing contacts

  • Offer sales leadership and senior business development experience in results-oriented organization

  • Team building, client expansion, and infrastructure management to set and achieve a newly formed division's goals and objectives

  • Capable of training, mentoring, and motivating sales and service teams

  • Skilled at developing and maintaining key carrier relationships for the purpose of improving success on new business and renewal opportunities

  • Possess broad property and casualty insurance product knowledge across small, middle market, and risk management levels
