Insurance Job Description

Our client is an international property and casualty insurance company.  They sell specialty insurance products and programs to a variety of niche markets.  Their focus and market strategy enable them to develop expertise and specialized market knowledge.  They seek an experienced casualty underwriter for their excess division in Scottsdale, AZ.

Commercial Underwriter Responsibilities

  • You'll be responsible for underwriting E&S casualty coverage like excess, umbrella, general and commercial auto liability

  • You'll focus on relationship driven business and will develop close ties within the Southwest U.S.'s independent distribution channels 

  • You'll mix technical underwriting strategies with experience driven rating to develop programs that provide a competitive edge

Commercial Underwriter Qualifications

  • College degree with 7-10 years of underwriting; a combination of carrier and brokerage experience acceptable with industry certifications highly desired

  • Knowledge of the facultative reinsurance market and appropriate underwriting strategies for direct layered policies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial lines insurance industry, products and features

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication and proven analytical problem solving skills
