Insurance Job Description

Our client is one of the largest excess and surplus wholesale brokers in the country.  They operate distinct wholesale divisions under one umbrella including a profitable managing general agency.  The MGA division caters to small commercial and personal lines accounts and provides immediate binding contract access to several A rated markets.  This department requires strong leadership, technical underwriting capabilities, and competitive analysis to drive profitability.  They seek a well versed P&C underwriter with supervisory experience to join their team.  You'll individually underwrite difficult or unusual accounts as well as strengthen market relationships.  You'll provide training and assistance to less experienced underwriters to sharpen their decision making and underwriting efficiency.

Underwriting Manager Qualifications

  • 5+ years of multi-line commercial underwriting with either an insurance carrier or with a managing general agency

  • Must have underwriting supervisory experience including training, hiring, employee reviews, and mentorship

  • Desire to market and ability to travel as needed to strengthen retail agency relationships
