Our client is a well respected insurance brokerage recognized as a leader in the size and scope of their risk management operations. Since group benefits division is such a strong portion of the agency's overall revenue the same resources are available for their producers as what exists at a national consulting firm.  They are in a period of terrific growth and seek to balance their product mix with the addition of an experienced group benefits sales manager.   

As VP, Group Employee Benefits Sales you have the opportunity to combine your own personal sales plans with sales mentoring, training, recruiting, and strategic division planning.   The maturity you bring to the role will compliment the current mix of junior and senior level sales talent.  As someone with exciting growth ideas, you can foster these plans within an agency supportive of its shareholders implementing aggressive new business development and training goals.  Finally, as a consultative producer, you will be a "leader by example", remaining on the front lines with your own clients while involving a number of other colleagues in the complete sales cycle.  Team selling, client service consultation, and your own expertise in group benefits will fit in nicely with the agency's sales philosophies and the level of expertise needed for this position.   

VP, Group Benefits Sales Leader Qualifications

  • At least 7-10 years of experience in the group health and welfare industry; understanding of the mid-market sales and service cycle with familiarity consulting on groups averaging 100-1,000 lives.  

  • Progressive experience in sales management and benefits leadership; you desire the role of division leader with the ability to appropriately dedicate time to employee development, strategic group benefits expansion, and personal production.

  • You consistently produce your own new business relationships; you can identify opportunities within the agency to develop new business (either through cross selling or in tandem with another producer); you emphasize regional expansion and can create a solid foundation for internal referrals between group employee benefits and property and casualty. 

  • Demonstrated experience leading sales teams including mentorship and ongoing producer training/development.

  • Management experience includes strategic product positioning, supporting marketing efforts, budget forecasting, and some operations leadership

  • Preference given to candidates with personal or professional ties in the region; candidates interested in relocating to Birmingham will be strongly considered; broad South/Southeast business ties is important.  

Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a guaranteed salary with commission on new business production.
