Insurance Job Description

Our client is a prominent P&C carrier serving the western United States and is a subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company.  They offer a broad range of business and personal insurance products to small and middle market customers.  They provide consultative loss prevention methods, comprehensive claims services and distribute their products through an established network of independent agents and brokers.  While they've written coverage in the Arizona marketplace for many years they will soon open a physical location in Phoenix.  They have a variety of needs, from technical assistant positions to underwriting manager roles, for professionals with solid commercial lines experience.

As Underwriter or Underwriting Assistant

  • You'll work with a service team to underwriting functions like quoting, binding, and fulfilling endorsement requests

  • Assistants will prepare policies, endorsements, billing statements and renewal files

  • Underwriters will focus on marketing and developing a substantial broker base to drive new business production and to monitor profitability

Underwriter or Underwriting Assistant Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of underwriting assistant and/or customer service experience with an insurance company or managing general agent

  • Underwriters must have 2+ years of underwriting authority

  • Knowledge of various P&C products with a special emphasis on main street, small to middle market risks

  • Strong math and computer aptitude

  • Team oriented approach

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
