Insurance Job Description

Our client is an international property and casualty insurance company.  They sell specialty insurance products and programs to a variety of niche markets.  Their focus and market strategy enable them to develop expertise and specialized market knowledge.  They seek an experienced, relationship driven underwriter for their casualty brokerage operations in Scottsdale, AZ.

Senior Underwriter Responsibilities

  • You'll be responsible for underwriting unusual, hard to place casualty business common to contractors, multi-unit commercial habitation and other similar risks

  • You'll rely on personal underwriting experience and marketing relationships to place business outside the standard market's guidelines

  • You'll also meet with regional brokerage contacts to provide competitive programs and solutions to drive new business production

Senior Underwriter Qualifications

  • College degree with 7-10 years of underwriting; a combination of carrier and brokerage experience acceptable with industry certifications and completed CPCU tests highly desired

  • Strong knowledge of excess & surplus general liability coverage with a commercial package underwriting background

  • Experience rating underwriting approach working with middle and large market risks with significant first dollar casualty exposures

  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial lines insurance industry, products and features

  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication and proven analytical problem solving skills
