They presently offer an opportunity to join their loss control department in Des Moines, IA and Columbus, OH. This position provides an opportunity for tremendous growth, visibility, and access to senior leaders across the organization. You will help build and support industry leading loss control services. Our client is looking for a self-starter who serves as a subject matter expert for loss control and safety issues to Underwriting, Claims, Marketing and other functional areas.

As a Loss Control Consultant you will:

  • Conduct research to identify and apprise clients of activities that present greatest possibility of loss.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data and underwriting information (loss information, premiums per line of business) to prioritize clients/exposures of concern.
  • Plan, develop and recommend loss control objectives.
  • Handle large accounts or complex issues.
  • Plan and conduct the training of loss control field staff.
  • Assist other departments, agents and insured in resolving technical questions regarding audits as well as specific safety management problems and provides expertise to support their activities as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • Eight years of loss control experience within the insurance industry.
  • Solid understanding of loss control policies, practices and procedures.
  • Exposure to safety, environment and construction concepts and principles.
  • Understanding of sales concepts for prospecting and retaining business.
  • Undergraduate studies in occupational/industrial safety, agricultural sciences, engineering, or insurance related curriculums.
  • Attainment of Certified Safety Professional, Associate of Loss Control Management, Associate Safety Professional or Associate in Risk Management desired.
