join their organization as a Life Sciences Underwriter.
As a Senior Underwriter you will be responsible for:
Managing the financial performance of a $6 - $7 million dollar
book of business in the Los Angeles branch.
Achieving profitable growth and contributing $1.2M in new Life
Sciences business.
Effective producer management and strong agency relationships are
key components of this position.
Developing the strategic vision of the Life Sciences unit within
the Technology Insurance Specialty.
Working closely with fellow underwriters, underwriting associates,
the processing center, operations, claims and loss control to
effectively manage the book of business.
Coaching junior underwriters and underwriting associates.
Book management responsibilities include travel within the Los
Angeles territory, insured visitation, developing prospects, managing
retention, rate and profitability.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and around five years of commercial underwriting
experience (Life Sciences preferred).
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Focus on superior customer service.
Experience with large, complex accounts.
Solid knowledge of commercial technology risk underwriting and
insurance industry theories and practices.
Proven, successful sales skills.
Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and
external business partners.
Experience developing marketing plans and handling complex
accounts.
Ability to develop marketing plans including product roll outs and
producer education.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other
business-related software.
