Insurance Job Description

Our client is a major Life Insurance organization home based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Due to growth we are seeking a Director of Life and Annuity Claims.

This position will be responsible for identifying and supporting strategies and initiatives within the Life & Annuity claims operations that will positively impact profitability. This will include implementation supporting technology changes and enhancements, reducing claims leakage, ensuring that we our in compliance with all state regulations, and improving the claims processing efficiency and customer service.

As Director of Life and Annuity Claims, your major responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement a plan to significantly reduce claims leakage across all product lines.
  • Manage a staff of 30+ employees.
  • Responsible for approximately 800 million dollars in Claims payments on an annual basis.
  • Development and management of departmental budget of approximately 3+ million dollars.
  • Responsible for claim payment decisions up to $750,000.
  • Act in a collaborative capacity with other units in the company to resolve problems/issues quickly. Establish priorities and make workflow decisions. Assure that our contractual and regulatory commitments are met.
  • Develop and provide claims trending analysis.
  • Support all claims-related litigation.
  • As applicable, manage all claims-related third party vendors. Work with other business units to use our scale to improve contracts.
  • Participate in the implementation of claim operational strategies, policies, workflow processes and standards. Ensure effective utilization of these strategies, policies, etc.
  • Assure compliance and performance standards are achieved; provide management information as necessary; and utilize all available resources in a cost effective manner.
  • Ensure that all customer service, quality management and audit goals are achieved.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive training program is conducted for new associates.

Job Qualifications

  • Candidates will have 5 plus years of handling life and annuity claims, in a multi state environment.
  • In addition you will have at least 3 years of Claims Management experience.
  • A college degree is also required.
