At the same time, they offer their policyholders and agents the broad-based expertise and technological resources of a national company. They presently offer the opportunity to join their organization in a newly created position, Group Medical Underwriter. In this role you will be part of a wholly owned TPA. This TPA continues to grow and expand. As the Group Medical Underwriter you will be responsible for the assessment of risk and making appropriate underwriting decisions. Review, analyze, interpret, and apply medical, legal and other required information to evaluate and determine acceptability of risk. Communicate and respond to inquires from sales personnel regarding underwriting decisions. Communicate with customers, physicians, attorneys, reinsures, and others as appropriate to obtain necessary information or to provide explanations of underwriting decisions. To be considered you will need to offer a BA/BS in a related field of business, minimum of 5 years experience in small group medical underwriting required. Must have Knowledge of rating methods, medical terminology, testing, and treatment and laboratory procedures. The ability to interpret benefit plan documents and stop loss policy provisions is also required.
