Our client is a large workers compensation carrier backed by a multi-billion dollar property/casualty parent company. Their resources and market strength are rare for a monoline carrier in today's insurance industry. They cater to small and middle market companies and pride themselves on product differentiation, disciplined underwriting and high customer retention. Their director of underwriting position is available to a highly technical individual with innate analytical abilities and natural leadership skills. This position manages the profitability and direction of the underwriting department and will implement policies and procedures geared for future growth. This is an executive level position that will oversee a team of 5-10 underwriters and will responsible for the training, development and discipline of those direct reports.

Other duties include:

• Manage pricing for new and renewal business and monitor loss ratios and reserves
• Assist with the development of rating methodologies and product development
• Assist with state regulatory and NCCI compliance issues
• Perform risk analysis queries and present findings to senior management

To be considered you must offer 8-10 years of experience in workers' compensation underwriting or related insurance experience with a major insurance carrier. Actuarial experience strongly desired. Must have 5 years management experience with a bachelors or advanced degree in applied statistics, actuarial sciences or mathematics. Fellow (FCAS)or Associate (ACAS) actuarial exams completed or in progress strongly preferred.
