Our client is one of the largest transportation insurance carriers in the western United States. They specialize in providing package coverage for small to mid-size fleets and currently hold an A (Excellent) rating from A.M. Best. Operating for the past 35 years their success has been the result of establishing strong agency relationships. Our client seeks an experienced commercial underwriter to join their management team. As an underwriter you'll oversee the acquisition and monitoring of new and renewal business. Your marketing will involve developing lasting agency relationships, including some travel, to discuss new products, rates and profitability with regards to loss ratio. You'll also represent the company at trade shows and through industry associations. As a manager you'll provide training and mentoring to a team of underwriters. You'll write performance evaluations, set production goals and establish department budgeting. The successful candidate will have a sound underwriting philosophy and a successful agency management approach to business development. Must be well versed in commercial auto, general liability and inland marine coverage with a transportation background a plus. A CPCU or other related industry designation preferred.
