Our client is a leading risk and insurance services firm. Due to continued growth, they offer an opportunity to join their dynamic organization as an Underwriting Manager. In this role you will supervise all aspects of the Underwriting work flow to ensure expedient and accurate processing of underwritten applications. Assist staff with applications that have extensive medical histories to determine if risk is acceptable. Contact carrier to investigate contractual problems and expedite processing of specific applications, and make decisions regarding procedure interpretation of eligibility. Interact with medical directors and carrier underwriting staff to keep them apprised of significant trends. Responsible for in-house training, development, and coaching of Underwriting Staff. This position will be responsible for both individual and group life, health, and disability for both small and large groups. There are approximately 17 people in this department that would be reporting up through the underwriting manager. This is a growing area and our client anticipates the number of people in this department to grow. To be considered you will need to offer around three to four years of underwriting experience, underwriting small to large cases and products to include, life, disability and health. Around two years of successful management experience desired. Strong medical knowledge required. Four year nursing degree highly desirable.
