Our client is one of the nation's largest health care insurance companies. They offer a full range of products and services, from traditional HMOs to point-of-service plans and preferred provider organizations. They presently offer an opportunity to join their underwriting team as an Underwriting Team Leader/Supervisor. In this position you will supervise the daily activities of the underwriting staff in this unit. You will provide direction to subordinates in interpreting and developing policies, procedures and guidelines. Develop, evaluate and implement pricing & underwriting strategies. Underwrite and issue case work. Develop, recruit and train staff within the department. Assist in developing policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Assess the need for renewal monitoring, revision underwriting, and post-issue underwriting. Provide renewal projections and make needed adjustment to current rates and policy provisions. Develop and implement overall renewal strategy to maintain desired Loss Ratio and retention for block of business. Conduct training sessions for field sales and management staff. Assist in conducting strategic analyses on various pricing scenarios. Assist with the forecast of business line revenues and assess segment performance. Assist in development of new Products. To be considered you will need to offer around three or more years of experience in pricing or underwriting environment and 2 years of experience supervising a group of underwriting professionals. Must possess deep working knowledge of the dynamics and trends in Dental/Vision or Health care delivery systems and industry practices. Excellent supervisory, problem solving and computer skills (particularly statistical, financial, economic modeling, and scenario building) are essential. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of basic utilization and pricing models, rate setting principles and underwriting methods.
