Our Property and Casualty insurance client is an A rated national carrier, who offers a tremendous amount of advancement opportunity and succession planning. We have been asked to assist them in recruiting for a Commercial Lines Underwriting Manager. This position will be located at their Indianapolis regional office. Responsibilities will include Managing a team of 8-12 commercial lines underwriters and associate underwriters in delivering timely, high quality and profitable products and services to customers. You will be responsible for hiring and developing a staff to meet changing business needs, and assigning underwriting territories in accordance with the individuals experience and the complexity of the book of business. Assist underwriters in the handling of high hazard and more complex accounts. You will assist in Marketing Company products through independent agents to achieve company growth and profitability targets. You will also confirm that pricing guidelines and standards for timeliness are being met. CPCU and or other insurance designations will be helpful. You will have at least 7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, with 1 year in a management role, as a manager, team leader or supervisor. Knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues, and a strong technical underwriting background are preferred. Above average people skills, including training and mentoring are a must.
