They presently offer an opportunity to join their underwriting department in a management role. As the Underwriting Manager you will manage the activities of the new business department, which review applications of specific lines of insurance to determine risk. Oversees the approval process of applications and the assignment of rates. Manage the underwriting function to ensure effective solicitation, selection, pricing, and retention of desirable business. Oversees the assignment of underwriting authority to staff and establishes controls to monitor their ability to accept risks, determine pricing and coverage, and place reinsurance. Establish audit and monitoring procedures to ensure adequate review of underwriting files. Provide technical training to underwriting staff to increase skill levels and underwriting authority. Underwrite difficult, complex accounts and resolves issues beyond the ability of underwriting staff. To be considered you must have Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and minimum 5 years related underwriting experience. Five years management experience preferred. LOMA FLMI, AAPA, FALU and ACS designations required. Experience developing and executing formal quality review process. In depth knowledge of Life, Annuity and Medicare Supplement products. Experience with product development. Process improvement/operation efficiency skills and experience. Agent and employee training experience. Reinsurance knowledge and experience negotiating treaties.
