They currently offer an opportunity to join their claims department in a field based position. looking for someone who is currently in the Northern Illinois/Northwest Indiana area who will be handling claims from their home. In this position, Physical Damage Field Adjuster, you will review itemized listing of damaged equipment with insured; negotiate loss settlement based on coverage, knowledge of repair costs, and other relevant factors. Continue negotiation until claim is settled equitably. Coordinate losses w/subrogation attorneys. Arrange for final settlement. This will include: traveling to accident. Arrange security of cargo and equipment; supervise clean up of site. Supervise luggers in the transfer of cargo, make preliminary arrangements for the transfer and/or sale of salvaged cargo and/or equipment. Ensure that undamaged cargo is started on destination to consignee. Receive notice of accident and make appointment with insured to investigate damage when cargo damage/subsequent loss is not a problem. Aid insured in getting equipment towed or moved to repair facilities. Complete required forms and other information necessary to create claim file for each case. File copies of all reports related to accident, copies of any repair estimates and correspondence related to the case. Complete regular reports on progress and status of each case until settled. Document relevant information used to make settlement estimate such as depreciation, previous damages and current values of equipment. Identify the dollar amount to be reserved in anticipation of claims settlement. Make reserve value corrections as new information is gained. To be considered you need to offer a Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. A minimum of two years applicable experience in a area related to the motor carrier insurance industry.
