Our client is a prominent property/casualty carrier serving the western United States and is a subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company. They offer a broad range of business and personal insurance products to small and middle-market customers. They provide consultative loss prevention methods, comprehensive claims services and distribute their products through an established network of independent agents and brokers. They currently offer an opportunity to join their P&C division as a commercial underwriter. In this position you'll be responsible for growing a profitable book of business within an assigned territory. You'll market our clients products and maintain frequent visits with agents. In the field you'll visit new business prospects, perform inspections and visit with current clients. You'll handle complex books of business and frequently review the loss activity of your agents. You'll impose underwriting restrictions to agents with less desirable loss history. A bachelors degree with 5 years of underwriting experience is required. The successful candidate will have a proven record of marketing and growing a book of business. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
