Our client is one of the largest transportation insurance carriers in the western United States. They specialize in providing liability, physical damage, general liability and motor truck cargo coverage from 1-50 unit fleets. For the past 35 years they've provided coverage through a network of independent agents that spans all states west of the Mississippi river. They currently offer an opportunity to join their underwriting team as a senior commercial lines underwriter. In this position you'll be responsible for underwriting transportation risks in accordance with the company's guidelines. You'll approve or decline risks based on loss ratio, operating radius and commodities hauled. You'll be assigned territories and monitor the hit ratios and profitability of your agents. The successful candidate will have a strong commercial casualty background with experience underwriting physical damage, inland marine and general liability coverage. A prior for-hire transportation or commercial auto background is preferred. A bachelor's degree and 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience is required. Salary is commensurate with experience.
