They have an opportunity available in Eastern Iowa to be part of their Surety Underwriting team. As a Surety Underwriter for our client, you will determine acceptability of surety submissions at a competitive price through analysis of financial statements, credit reports, bank letters and past history. Work toward a profitable and controlled level of growth by servicing the existing business and meeting or exceeding the Department annual goals and objectives. Responsibilities include: Underwrite new surety submissions within assigned authority limits. Gather information regarding financial status, credit standing and organization profile to analyze and determine acceptability of the risk. Request information regarding the risks from agents and contractors. Interaction with professional NASBP member agents. Discuss new and renewal business and status of accounts. Travel is required, visiting agents and clients. To be considered you will need to offer around Three - five years experience is required. Four-year college degree in Business Administration, Economics or Finance with a background in accounting is preferred. Must be able to make decisions, review financial statements, credit reports and maintain constant attention to detail. Must be able to analyze confidential financial information and follow guidelines in determining the renewal of contractor's lines of credit. Documentation of files and obtain sufficient information is required to make proper decisions. Base pay will depend on your actual experience.
