Our client provides HMO, PPO, ASO, and Scheduled Benefit dental plans, vision, and Employee Assistance Programs. In the last 30 years they have grown to be an industry leader as a key ancillary benefits provider to Fortune 500 companies, educational institutions, employee benefit trusts, and government agencies. They presently offer an opportunity to join their growing organization in a newly created role, Director of Underwriting. In this position you will contribute to the development of the Company's underwriting rules and guidelines, to implement the Company's pricing and underwriting tools with respect to each new group quote and each existing group renewal, and to respond to all quote requests and provide all renewal rates on a timely basis. The position will work closely with the Director, Actuarial Services and other senior management to manage the underwriting risk accepted by the Company. This position will have approximately 4-8 subordinates, and must be able to prioritize their efforts effectively, and otherwise manage the Underwriting staff. To be considered you must offer a Bachelor's degree and around eight or more years of experience in underwriting group health or dental insurance products. At least five years of experience managing the underwriting function for an insurance company with respect to dental or health insurance products. Dental insurance background preferred. Must be highly knowledgeable about typical dental insurance and HMO products. Must have experience in designing underwriting guidelines for group dental or health insurance products.
