Our client provides HMO, PPO, ASO, and Scheduled Benefit dental plans, vision, and Employee Assistance Programs. In the last 30 years they have grown to be an industry leader as a key ancillary benefits provider to Fortune 500 companies, educational institutions, employee benefit trusts, and government agencies. They presently offer an opportunity to join their growing organization in a newly created role, Director, Actuarial Services. In this position you will develop and maintain the pricing tools that are used by the Underwriting department to determine group-specific premium rates for all new business and renewal business, for all product lines. The position will also work closely with the Underwriting department and other senior management to develop and maintain appropriate underwriting rules and guidelines that are used to control the risk accepted by the Company. Research the Company's claims experience and other data to develop information and assumptions used in the pricing tools. Update pricing tools to reflect new plan designs, changes in provider reimbursement rates, new geographic areas, etc. Continuously update pricing tools to reflect improvements in pricing methodology, the quality of the assumptions, and other related elements. Participate in multi-department project teams involved in new product development, systems conversions, changes in claims payment procedures, etc., in order to identify pricing implications and collect information that might have a bearing on the pricing tools. Complete rate approval filings with various state regulatory agencies, as needed. Provide actuarial certification of the Company's IBNR liability estimates, as needed. To be considered you must offer a Bachelor's degree in math or actuarial science with an ASA certification. At least five years of experience pricing dental or health insurance products for an insurance company. Dental insurance background preferred.
