Our client is a regional carrier with a long successful tradition in the Midwest and western part of the US. They offer an excellent rating by AM Best. Currently they offer an opportunity to join their central regional underwriting operation located in Des Moines, IA. They offer an excellent combined ratio and approximately 40% growth in this region. Depending upon your experience, you could be considered for an Underwriter position or a Senior Underwriter position. The Senior role encompasses a broader scope of responsibilities, which include serving as a resource to Underwriters, providing product line training to Trainees and Assistants, and participating in product development activities. As either an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter you will : Underwrite new business by evaluating information provided in the application and obtained from the agent and other sources to determine risk acceptability and pricing. Underwrite renewals by reviewing policy and claims file information to determine renewal position and pricing. Approve endorsements that are over the authority of the Underwriter Assistant. To be considered, you must have at least two years of applicable commercial underwriting experience. Around five or more years applicable experience needed to be considered for the Senior position. Industry related coursework a real plus. Middle market size accounts. Broad types of risk exposures with a majority of contractor-type accounts, but also includes retail, wholesalers and manufacturers. Base pay depends upon your experience.
