Our Client, a world-class metal fabricator for the large equipment industry, is seeking a senior level Paint Finishing Engineer. This Engineer will provide technical assistance and supervise the operation of a chemical pretreatment, industrial electro-coating, topcoat finishing and conveyor material handling systems. Responsibilities: · This is a fast-paced, hands-on position that will involve providing support, training and technical assistance to the Paint, Manufacturing Engineering and/or Sales departments · Ability to work independently, develop manufacturing processes and maintain knowledge of new equipment, material, and application techniques as they become available is required · Experience with problem solving in coating technologies in a team environment, project and program management, lean manufacturing tools and techniques including kaizen and six sigma techniques · Maintain customer specifications and required procedures in pretreatment, electro-coating, top coating, and curing of all specified coatings ·
Knowledge or understanding of ASTM standards and
engineering standards ·
Maintain the defined quality standards, safety and
well being of both employees and equipment ·
Assist in compliance with environmental regulations.
· Evaluate production processes; and have hands on experience with paint equipment and application process techniques to improve surface coating quality and paint shop efficiency · Work with production, equipment manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that paint equipment, process and layout are optimized ·
Plan and implement policies that identify long-term
cost and quality improvements · Design, specify, order and coordinate fabrication of required carts, dollies, racks, for kanban system ·
Assist with the continuous improvement planning and
strategies · Maintain all ISO documentation related to the department for ensuring compliance Requirements: · Minimum 5 years' manufacturing experience in the field of surface coating materials and paint application equipment selection and implementation · Job Knowledge of pre-treat and Electro-deposition system including Basic chemistry and titrations, ultra-filtration system, anolyte system, cathodic epoxy E-coat, DataPaq operation, good trouble shooting skills of common pre-treat/ E-coat issues · Knowledge of liquid spray topcoat including thermal-set acrylics, electrostatic air-spray application, viscosity and temperature control/effect, good trouble shooting skills of common topcoat issues. ·
Understanding of complete manufacturing process and
flow of product through it · Understanding of the effect that other manufacturing processes can have on paint process including possible contaminants ·
Able to make efficiency and productivity gains
through process improvements ·
Ability to motivate, manage and train associates
· Strong organizational skills including ISO documentation and project management
